It is interesting how yoga reflects so many aspects of life, the parallels are always evident. Take last nights’ yoga class for example. Our yoga Teacher Paul, mentioned the 3‘s’ in a yoga practice: Support, space and stillness. I automatically took them one step further and applied them to personal development. Being your own support in making things happen, or perhaps getting external support like a Life Coach if you need assistance in this area, looking at getting support for your ideas, your creativity your growth. This is all about being resourceful.
Space: creating it with every activity you do, having awareness of creating a balance, inspiring you to keep going as you balance your space with what is around you. For example you work in an open planned office; you create a space around you that is conducive to working at the optimal level. You take a walk from your desk to recharge and focus the eyes on something else to create more space so you can keep working at this pace.
Lastly, stillness, an important element in a yoga practice, to be mindful and present time conscious. To allow whatever needs to happen to manifest in the real world. If you have stillness you have clarity and inspired thoughts. That is most probably why so many people are embarking on meditation courses to seek just that: clarity, peace and stillness.
So as Paul talked about creating our own space, in a supportive environment whilst keeping absolutely still, I was drifting in and out of my body letting the breathe take over. I was transported to another place, letting my body drift further knowing I was fully supported and safe.
